Feeling seen and heard is such a powerful experience for those walking through depression.
I have had my own challenges with anxiety and depression. People have told me to cheer up. Or even to have more faith.
Most of us would agree that this approach is almost never helpful.
Whilst well-meaning, it fails to validate the emotions we are experiencing and see them for what they truly are.
The God Who Sees Me
Throughout the Bible we meet people just like us who encounter the God who sees and knows them right where they are.
The first person in scripture to name God was a woman called Hagar.
She called him El Roi which means “the God who sees me”.
Hagar was a single mother and a slave yet she declared “I have seen the one who sees me.”
God loves us exactly as we are
As you journey through life you can do so knowing that God sees you and still He loves you exactly as you are right now.
Take a moment now to reflect on this truth speak it over yourself.
“God sees me and knows me still He loves me”.
