Prayer is an important part of Christian life and in this blog, we want to specifically focus on prayers for women. These prayers can be used as a daily devotional, praying into different areas of your life and the lives of other women around you. If you’re looking for words to say to God in private or need some pointers for your prayer or fellowship group, then we hope these will help.
Philippians 4:13 says “I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.” Relying on Gods strength is essential. We also know from Exodus 33:14 that God says, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” We always need to be more aware of God, and we can always ask for His presence to be with us. This prayer is about inviting His Holy Spirit to fill us with His power, giving us strength and providing comfort no matter what the day throws at us.
Dear God, would you fill me with Your presence. I thirst for You. I long for something greater than the world can offer. The deepest desires of my heart and my deepest longings are found in You and in You alone. Whatever the day may throw at me, I know that I can face it by the power of Your Holy Spirit. Let Your peace comfort me and Your presence be a balm to my soul. I want to know You more, Lord. I want to feel Your presence more strongly. Holy Spirit, come and have your way in me today.
Whatever it is, we sometimes need direction. The world is constantly telling us we should be this or that, pulling us in different directions. But that isn’t necessarily God’s best for us. Use this prayer to ask God what He has for you.
Lord, I want to know what You have for my life. In the uncertainty of the future, would You shine a light on what it is You want me to do. I long to glorify You in all that I do and live with a kingdom mentality. Thank You for the gifts You have given me. Whatever it is you want me to do Lord, guide me on the right path and open the right doors so that I can take hold of my calling.
The influence and leadership of Godly women is so needed in our world. Maybe the Lord is calling you to some form of leadership, whether that’s in your workplace, in the church or in your wider community. For those already in positions of leadership, you no doubt understand the power of prayer. Surround me with people who can help and support me in what I do. I need Your provision and Your ever-present help in times of need. I ask that You would be close now and in the future, even in the face of challenge, suffering and persecution. Whatever happens, would Your name be glorified above all else.
It’s important that we uphold, champion, and support other women. That might be in our church, our workplace, our family or our social circle. One way we can do this as Christians is by praying for other women.
Thank you, God, for the blessings you have given us. Thank you that we enjoy the freedoms won by many women before us. Lord, we bring before you those who do not have the same freedoms as us. We think of those who still experience suffering and oppression because they are women. Where there are girls who don’t have access to education or opportunities, we ask that you bring about change, Lord. Your kingdom is defined by equality, by the liberation of the poor and the downtrodden. We pray that this would be the experience of all women, at home or abroad, who are not fully free. Would those women in positions of influence and power speak up for the oppressed and be a guiding light for younger women looking to make their mark. Would Christian mothers, wives and friends rise up as Godly examples to follow. Thank You, Jesus, that Your example of inclusivity and fellowship with those on the margins of society is one that we can all follow. Bring peace and prosperity to the lives of women everywhere, in Jesus' name, Amen.
Dear God, thank you for my marriage. Help me to be the best wife I can be. Lord, when it’s tough give me patience, humility, kindness and grace. When it’s good help me to be thankful and to enjoy my relationship with my husband. Help me to bless him and support him everyday.
You are not defined by your relationship status. Consequently, whether or not you are single, God has so much more for you. Here’s a prayer for those women who are single.
Thank you, Lord, that You are with us in our singleness and don’t value us based on our relationship status. Thank You for the blessings of singleness, the freedom it offers and the opportunity to get to know You better. Lord, help me to use this time wisely, however long this season lasts. I know that You are all I need, and You have plans to prosper me and not to harm me as it says in Jeremiah 29:11. Help me to flourish now; continue Your process of sanctification in me and show me Your will for my future.
Nevertheless, regardless of our stage of life, we can all be a good friend. Women supporting other women is such a valuable thing and is just one part of our call as Christians to be members of one body from 1 Corinthians 12. We should model love and support for our sisters in Christ. God only knows the ripple effect this has in the church and the surrounding culture.
Thank you, God, for the gift of friendship. Where I lack of Godly friends, I ask that You would provide. I pray that I would be surrounded by supportive women of God who encourage and strengthen me in my own life. I pray that I can be that to others too. Help me to notice when my friends are suffering or in need. Help me be more selfless and focussed on others. I pray that I can have a heart like Christ and be there for my friends when they need me. Thank You, Lord, that You are the best friend we could ever ask for and you are always there for us. Amen.
