Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; Proverbs 3:5
This small but mighty verses is packed with helpful instruction for those of us learning to trust God. Lets break it down:
The Bible speaks about the heart, and it paints a picture of the heart as being the centre of who we are as humans. Its the place where we live, laugh, and dream. Trusting in the Lord with all your heart then means acknowledging your hopes and fears, dreams, failures, and ambitions. Your heart is important to God; your dreams, desires, and needs are the ways in which you can connect with Him. In essence, all of you are seeking all of Him. Bring your whole self to Him in prayer, and watch what He will do in and through you.
When we hit challenges and setbacks, tragedy or loss, we can want to figure things out for ourselves. If you're anything like me, you'll know the temptation to catastrophise or control outcomes, to create narratives that we can understand and manage. Yet, our loving Father invites us to trust Him. When situations are chaotic and out of our control, He invites us to pray and seek His perfect will, promising that He will "make our paths straight'. We don't have to go it alone. He is with us as we go through the difficult seasons of life and is working on our behalf. Why not take a breath right now? As you breathe out, thank Him for the plan He has for you. Ask Him to reveal it to you in a way you can understand.
As we read the Bible, we see many examples of Bible characters who go through times of testing. God often orchestrates or uses situations to show us where our trust really lies. He does this because He wants to invite us to trust Him more completely. And He wants us to recognise where our "ways" need to align with His. Father God knows that the often unstable but beloved habits or beliefs we hold onto will ultimately cause us pain and disappoint us when they inevitable fail us. He is the only object of our affection that will never let us down, and He wants us to know and experience that today. Is there something in your life you need to surrender to God? Know that He is perfect in all His ways and will never fail you. His love is too good for that.
When we commit our ways to God, He has an incredible way of turning situations around. He does this supernaturally and effortlessly. The Bible is full of incredible stories of hope, of God's intervention, and of His ability to turn situations around in 180 degrees. Is there a situation in which you need a turnaround? Why not pause right now? Ask Him for an intervention.
"Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life.. Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they ? Can any one of you, by worrying, add a single hour to your life? Matthew 6:25-27
In this verse, Jesus, in a firm and compassionate tone, encourages us to let go of worry. He remind us that our Father already knows what we need. And, as God The Father is perfect, and we are precious to Him, He will take care of us. We can trust Him. Isn't this an incredible promise? Is there somewhere in your life where you have a need? Why not take a moment to bring it to God in a short prayer. Thank Him today that He already knows what you need and is ready to answer you as you pray.
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28
In this verse, Paul reminds us of the power of God's eternal purpose. Because we have been called according to His eternal purpose, we can know that God will work out all things for our good. Not some things. Not even most things. But all things! Is this a complex, tricky situation you find yourself in right now? Do you need God's help? Why not invite Him into the mess, trusting in His ability to work it out? Remember, that He works differently. And perfectly.
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Isaiah 26:3-4
Are you struggling to find peace right now? Maybe you find yourself overwhelmed with anxious thoughts. Then hold onto this verse. Accept the invitation to think and meditate of the greatness and goodness of God today. And, as you do so, receive His perfect peace.

His perfect love and grave are available for you whenever you need it. He holds you with a steadfast love. You can trust Him because Jesus is who He says He is. In closing lets pray together, "Jesus, I thank you that I don't have to have all the answers for my life. I choose to trust You today, the One who holds the future and who walks with me every step of the way. Help me to trust You more as we walk together. Amen"
