Incorporating Bible verses into our morning routine can have a profound impact on our mindset. In fact, thinking about the Bible, helps to center and align our thoughts with God's truth.
The apostle Paul, in his letter to the Romans, reminds his readers not to conform to the pattern of this world but to "be transformed by the renewing of your minds." For him, there is an expectation that followers of Jesus change the way that they think. But how can we do this? By reading and meditating on scripture. By obeying its commands, memorizing verses and by holding on to the promises it contains for us, we will change the way we think. And in doing so, we'll change the way we act too.
If you're anything like me, sometimes you get out of bed in a bad mood for no particular reason at all. Reading an encouraging part of the Bible first thing in the morning can help set the tone for the rest of the day and break you out of a negative thought pattern.
Sometimes we don't know where to turn for strength and encouragement. The good news is that Scripture is full of both. Starting your day by thinking about God's goodness and His promises for us can really lift your mood and encourage you in whatever situation you're going through.
Scripture is a powerful tool for helping us get a healthy perspective on our lives. Its easy to default to a defeated outlook when things don't look like they're going our way. But when we remember that our days are numbered, that we are held in God's hands, and that we are loved with an eternal love, our perspective invariably shifts. When we correctly place ourselves within God's eternal narrative, we can see ourselves within the greatest story of all!
Finally, Scripture contains the heart and the will of God Himself. When we read it, we are bumping into His desires, His plan, His hopes for creation and His divine plan that is unfolding within us and around us. As we read it, we can begin to know the one who wrote it and connect with His heart for His creation and for us as individuals too. When we connect with Scripture, we are opening the gateway to a deeper relationship with God Himself.
