Let's look at three Bible verses about renewal and transformation. "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here!" 2 Corinthians 5:17 "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." Psalm 51:10 "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will." Romans 12:2
The Bible promises that when we meditate on (think and dwell on) the commands of God in scripture, we will be transformed. The word renew, in Greek is metanoia which literally means: “a change of mind, as it appears to one who repents, of a purpose he has formed or of something he has done." As we begin to act on what we read, we will experience change. And, together with the empowerment of the Holy Spirit that God promises He will give us, we can confidently expect some different outcomes.
As the popular phrase goes, we may not know what's in our future, but we know the One who holds our future. This is especially comforting when we remember that our God is a good God and perfect in all His ways. So we can rest easy knowing that our perfect Father holds our unseen future. And, by His Holy Spirit, He walks with us every day. Let's read these two verses about God's plan for our futures. "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland." Isaiah 43:18–19
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
What are the things that God is speaking to you about for the coming year? Is there something on your heart that you'd love to see happen this year? Remember that hope is an essential ingredient for a peaceful and fruitful life. What are you hoping for, in God? Ask Him today for guidance and direction as you bring your requests to Him.
"Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22–23 "The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him." Lamentations 3:24 No matter what we've done or where we've been over the last year, we can confidently rely on the compassion and mercy of God, our Father. Even when we are unreliable, He is not. Even when we wander or make mistakes, He never will. His mercies are new every morning, which is the Psalmists way of saying; they are endless and fresh. If you need mercy and grace today or throughout the rest of the year, you have a Heavenly Father who delights in giving you what you need.

John 3:3 As followers of Jesus, we inherit a completely new life option. We are new creations, with a new heavenly reality and a new Christ nature. In fact, one translation of Ephesians 2 uses the concept of a prototype. You and I are prototypes, never-seen-before one-of-a-kind, born of the Spirit, and made in the image of Christ.
As we continue to live by His Holy Spirit, we will see an increase in peace, joy, and other benefits of His life within us. As you settle into this lifestyle, good choices and a holy confidence will become hallmarks of your spiritual journey. Changes that can feel scary can become more and more habitual. New and healthy habits will replace old ones. You will see an increase in Christ-like character. Just take one day at a time. Friend, you have so much to look forward to in 2024. No matter what has happened in your past, you have a spotless future!
