You are forever God’s, cherished and loved, not for what you do but for who you are. Join us as we explore that powerful truth in this blog.

"Your identity is not wrapped up in how right you get it or how perfect you can posture yourself. But, your identity is wrapped up in the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ." - Lacrae
The book of Psalms features a wide variety of themes, but the predominant ones emphasize prayer, praise and worship. There are 73 psalms that many authors have compiled and given to David. The psalms were written over a long period in Israel’s history. Today’s passage is a single, profound and powerful verse: Psalm Chapter 100 verse 3: “Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.” - Psalm 100:3 Do you hear the gentle, logical sequence of the text?
This is a wonderful articulation of how we can understand our God-given identity. In a cultural moment that often leaves us confused, this verse is our road-map through the maze.

Let’s reflect on the statements one-by-one. First, “know that the Lord is God.” This deep knowing that God is God, that He’s sovereign and over all, is one of the most life-altering realizations you’ll ever arrive at. Peace washes over you as you remember God is holding the reins, not you. The weight of the world falls from your shoulders. Christ is in control. Sometimes, we can know this conceptually, but the reality of it gets lost amid our busy lives. We revert to striving in our own strength. We fight fruitlessly to make something of ourselves. And sometimes we forget that the Lord is God. Psalm 46 speaks powerfully to this frustration, lovingly guiding our steps: “Be still, and know that I am God.”
The key to knowing that the Lord is God, scripture says, is simply to slow down. Do you need to slow down today? Why not take a moment to connect with God now. Take a deep breath. Be still... and know, deep in your soul, that the almighty, holy and unchanging Lord is God. Feel the tension melting away as you surrender to this truth.
Secondly, “know He made you.” This profound declaration speaks to our position in the cosmos. We are created beings, made in the image of our wonderful God. This is huge news. It means you’ve been made with intention, value and love. You’re not an accident. God meant for you to happen. Do you know today that God made you with a purpose? Encourage yourself with this truth. Say this with me: “I’m here for a reason.’

Finally, and maybe most beautifully, “know you are His.” Because God is God, and because He made you, you can know unflinchingly that you are His beloved child. Not because you’ve chosen Him, but because He’s chosen you. You are His, now and forever. You’re eternally safe in His arms. His Spirit is always with you to help, comfort and guide you.
Do you see now the profound power of this verse? Just as we’ve discovered previously, it’s only in realizing whose you are that you’ll ever find out who you are. God’s invitation for you to know Him is the deepest, most beautiful invitation in the universe. Knowing you’re His isn’t saying you’re some sort of weird "possession," but it’s about having your eyes opened to your inherent, precious worth. You are forever God’s, cherished and loved, not for what you do but for who you are. In His presence, you can shed the masks and the anxieties and simply be. Hear it again: Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made you, and you are His.
“Heavenly Father, I sit humbly in your presence to acknowledge three things before you. You are God. You made me. And I am yours. May these truths be my anchor in life’s storms today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
