This is Rachel's story. Find hope in this seemingly small thing that changed Rachel's life for good. Hers is a story that helps us remember how much God truly loves us.
When I was a kid, I knew just a little bit about Jesus. I went to a Christian school and my family sometimes went to church on Easter and Christmas. When I was in my late teens, I sat in our church and asked God if He was there. I was emotionally open, but I thought Christianity was boring and closed to people who didn't believe the same things. I thought Buddhism and witchcraft were much more interesting and made more sense. But, as you'll hear in a moment, nothing has ever held my attention like the truth about who Jesus is.
The more I learned about witches and occultism, the farther I got from Christ. My friends and I then started using drugs and going to parties, and it felt like everything was getting out of hand. My friends and I went to a bar one night after buying some cocaine. We started dancing, drinking, and doing drugs in the bathroom. All of a sudden, I felt like the walls were closing in and I had to get out. I left the club without saying goodbye to my friends, and I didn't go back.
For the first time, I felt like I heard God's voice call my name. Then I clearly heard these words: "This is not the life I have planned for you." My mom, who had just become a Christian, had given me some Christian books to read when I got home. I had heard about Jesus before, but I started to realize how much I needed Him and why I needed to let Him into my life.
That night, I said yes to Jesus, and I invited Him into my life. I can now say from the bottom of my heart that my life has never been the same since. Following Jesus has been the best decision of my life, and the best journey I've ever been on, and I'm still on it every day. It has changed me and the way my life will go from now on from here."
