It can be a time for a fresh start, time for a new experience or time to give something another try. But itâs also just another day. There can be pressure to make it a special, momentous occasion; the start of a big new chapter in your life⊠Which can all be a bit overwhelming.
And actually, the Bible doesnât say much about resetting at the beginning of each and every year (partly because they didnât have calendars like ours when it was written). If youâre looking for scripture about new year, youâll be hard pressed to find anything along the lines of ânew year, new meâ. However, the Bible does have a lot to say about Godâs promises, whatever the season. It says a lot about what our relationship with God should look like every day, not just at the start of the year. It also says a lot about grace and the gift of Jesus Christ. Much of this is covered below. Sometimes what we need, particularly after a difficult year, is some encouragement. There are many places in the Bible you can find this kind of encouragement. Weâve got a few new year verses here that explore Godâs sovereignty, His great love and His perfect plans which are better than anything we could imagine. Some of the most encouraging verses in the Bible are those that detail Godâs promises. Whether spoken directly by Him or through the words of a Prophet, God has many things to tell us. And His promises never change. He always stays the same. He will in the New Year too.
âTherefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!â
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,"
âThe Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.â
âLook at the nations and watchâ and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.â

Sometimes we need to lift our eyes from our own situation and ask God to give us a heavenly perspective. When we do this, we often find we get extra strength and wisdom to tackle the challenges we are facing or that are ahead of us.
